| Carl shows me this Japanese Beetle (Popilla japonica), a notorious lawn and garden pest. But this one is doomed: the two little white dots on its green surface are Tachnid Fly parasite eggs. When the eggs hatch the larvae will burrow into the beetle, which will then dig itself into the ground, die and be eaten. |
