Winter at Traveler Mountain
Road closures and park regulations make this
hike much more difficult in winter
Why does it take 9 hours to hike 11 miles over a
little 3000-foot mountain?
There are two reasons:
1. The total trail elevation gain is over 3700 feet,
which exceeds the mountain's altitude above
sea level. (Think about it!)
2. Much of the trail footing is treacherous.
Each foot plant is a thoughtful decision,
slowing up even the most sure-footed.
