| At trailside is an Eastern Tailed-blue (Everes comyntas), also called Cupido comyntas. This small (3/4-inch wingspan) butterfly is identified by its two small orange spots and very thin tail at the back of each hind wing. The dark upperwing color indicates it is a female. This species rarely rests with spread wings -- my camera is lucky. |
